The Internet Business: On Affiliate Marketing

To get started- Basic

1. An Affiliate promotes products of one or more Vendors. When promoting products of other vendors the affiliate should; first try to win the trust of his customers. 

2. Be diligent about the Quality of the product you are going to "promote".

(You don't want a potential Buyer /Customer feeling uneasy about the contents in the package he gets. Instead it would be a good thing if a Buyer/Customer comes back to you every time he wants to make a purchase).

3. Spend some time explaining a little more about the product, in brief: "Content"

(Sometimes it takes a little more than just a few lines. Explain about a comparison you have made, of a similar product with another brand, for example: The best price,etc).

4. Optional; but It is a good thing to let the Buyer know that you will get a small 'cut' as "commission", and only if the purchase is made. (This will expose the extent of your honesty in the business).

Step-1: Are you registered as an Affiliate?

If you are on this page, you probably have already registered yourself as an Affiliate.  If not, there are many Multinational commerce companies like Amazon.com . Clickbank which is an online market place for digital information products. eBay which is a multinational consumer-to-consumer corporation, you can register yourself with them for a start and promote their products.

Step-2: How to Promote your products online?

Once you're 'in' you need to promote their products, that you have selected. 
You can do this without a website or blog, but it is not recommended.
So you will need to have a website or blog through which you can promote /publish. If you already have a website or blog of your own, then you can move to the next step. (See below)

For those affiliates who do not have a website or blog, you can create a Blog or Website. For this I recommend Blogger.com to set up your free Blog.
You can also use WordPress to create a free website, but you will need to pay a few dollars a month for a good web hosting company (WordPress does not include hosting)

You can create a free website with Wix.com which is probably one of the best free website builders. However it's not advisable to create a free website; for various reasons. So choose wisely and once you have one set up you can move to the next step...

Alternatively you can also promote your affiliate products on your social networking /media accounts, like Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and other such sites. But before you do so you will need to go through their Terms and Conditions, Terms of Use, Platform Policies, etc, etc.
